A group of community volunteers got the chance to meet their Fulham heroes on Monday as Barclays Premier League title sponsor Barclays teamed up with the Fulham Football Club Foundation to thank hard-working volunteers on its Community Champions project for their commitment to the local community.

The group were able to meet Fulham manager Martin Jol and captain Brede Hangeland, have their photos taken with the duo, quiz them on life in the Barclays Premier League and have an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour around Craven Cottage.
Community Champions gives opportunities for its members to make a difference in the local community whilst receiving sports-specific training and qualifications.
The group was chosen by Barclays because of the time they give up to help coach and facilitate football in the local area. This season, Barclays is identifying community groups to visit each Barclays Premier League club as part of its campaign to thank fans and community heroes.
"This season Barclays is saying thank you to community heroes across the UK, who help make the Barclays Premier League what it is today," said David Wheldon, Managing Director of Brand, Reputation and Citizenship at Barclays. "We invited a group of volunteers from the Community Champions project to a special event at Fulham as a thank you for all their hard work in the community."

Speaking about the visit, Spencer O'Driscoll, Community Champions Volunteer of the Season, said: "It was a really inspiring event and it is not every day that you get to ask questions to football people as important as Martin and Brede. To be able to get advice from a manager like Martin Jol was amazing and I look forward to passing on some tips to the kids next time we've got a session.
"I've been part of the Community Champions project since March and we’re all really grateful that we have been thanked for our hard work with the event at the Cottage today."
